Dry Weight vs Wet Weight
Dry weight (Unloaded Vehicle Weight, UVW) is the trailer as it left the factory, with no water, gear or (often) propane. Wet or loaded weight is what you actually tow.
What gets added
- Fresh water: 8.34 lb/gal, so a 40 gal tank is ~334 lb
- Propane: ~4.2 lb/gal (two full 30 lb cylinders = 60 lb of fuel)
- Batteries, solar, generator
- Dealer-installed options
- Food, clothes, chairs, grills, tools, bikes
CCC: the ceiling
Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) = GVWR − UVW. That is the most you may add. Many owners plan with the trailer's GVWR as its towed weight, which is a conservative way to size a truck.
Run your numbers in the wet weight estimator.
Safety note: These are planning estimates, not a guarantee your setup is safe or legal. Always verify with your truck's door-jamb sticker, the manufacturer's towing guide for your exact configuration, the trailer's VIN sticker, and a real weigh at a CAT scale. Never exceed any rating.
